Festivid recs! Honestly, I'd rec everything, but I'll try to narrow it down to my absolute favorites.

Can I Get Get Get [2 Broke Girls] - I love this show, partly because Kat Dennings is sassy and hot, but also because the show always makes me laugh, and most important, it's about the friendship of two awesome young ladies. This vid perfectly shows everything I love about that friendship.

Let's Go To The Mall [Clueless] - As soon as I saw the title of the vid, I went, "omg, did somebody make a vid to the Robin Sparkles song from HIMYM?" And they totally did! It's like the song and the movie were made for each other.

Eye of the Tiger [A Knight's Tale] - All I'm going to do is quote the summary: A Knight's Tale is both 20 years too late and nearly 700 years too early to be a 1980s sports movie. That doesn't stop it from trying. Nuff said.

Da' Scarlet Dipernel [The Scarlet Pimpernel - 1982] - Okay, I don't even -know- this canon, but that doesn't stop it from being one of my favorites. What really sells it to me is Ian McKellan's expressions, Jane Seymour's hair, and the other guy's looking glass.

Firework [Whip It] - Okay, the first time I watched this vid, I got tears in my eyes, that's how happy it makes me.

Like I said at the very beginning, I would rec everything if I could, but if I did that, this would be a frakin' long entry. So I'm just going to link you to the master list here. Enjoy watching!

Today's fandom post is probably going to be the shortest of them all.

A Softer World is a webcomic by Emily Horne and Joey Comeau. Emily takes pictures and arranges them in a three panel (sometimes six) format, then Joey puts text to it. The subjects range all over the place, and can "sad or harsh" (their words) at times.

Despite that, the comic has spawned a whole bunch of remixes, using screencaps from different fandoms. You'll notice that half the links go to remixes by one particular person. That is because she and her remixes are awesome, and her remixes are what got me hooked, both on the original comic and different remixes, plus got me making them myself.

I don't know why I decided to do this, I just did. Each day this week, Monday through Friday, I'm going to make a fandom post, with each day having a theme. The post will have some info about that theme plus rec links. Anyway, let's get this started!

A sedoretu, in the simpliest and easiest form to explain, is a foursome. It's four people (usually, but not always, two men and two women) getting married. However, it's a lot more complicated than that, because a person in a sedoretu doesn't sleep with all three other people, only two of them. In the world where sedoretu exist, society is split into two moieties. Your moiety determines who you can have sex with, because you only have sex with people of the opposite moeity. To have sex with a person of the same moeity is taboo. In a sedoretu, there are two people of each moeity. Usually it's a man and woman of one moeity and a man and woman of the other. So a person in a sedoretu sleeps with the two people who are the opposite moeity. That makes six relationships within the marriage: four sexual, and two non-sexual.

I love the concept of the sedoretu. Ever since I first learned of it, which I think was the Merlin sedoretu fic, An Ever-Fixed Mark, I've loved it. I think every fandom should have at least one sedoretu fic. Sadly, that is definitely not the case. I know of seven sedoretu fic. And that's including the one I wrote. More people need to write sedoretu fic. Even if it's in a fandom I don't know, I would probably read it.

The creator of the sedoretu is Ursula K. Le Guin. She first introduced the concept of the sedoretu in her short story "A Fisherman of the Inland Sea" and brought the concept back in the short stories "Unchosen Love" and "Mountain Ways". I've only completely read the later two, which deal more with the actual sedoretu than "Fisherman" does. "Unchosen Love" and "Mountain Ways" are both in her collection of short stories, The Birthday of the World: And Other Stories.

There you have it. I highly encourage the thinking up of sedoretu in different fandoms. I've actually started a Harry Potter one, plus the other night I thought of Neal/Peter/Elizabeth/Sarah from White Collar.

If you have a post about sedoretu you've thought of, or know of any other sedoretu fic out there, let me know!

I'm so glad I was thinking about ElfQuest for some reason tonight. That led to me finding the following:

~ ElfQuest: A Fan Imagining ~

So. Gorgeous. If they ever get around to making an ElfQuest movie, I want it to be as gorgeous as this.

What might be the best part? Wendy and Richard Pini have seen it and love it.

That's what I love about the Pinis. They support fanworks. Why else would the official ElfQuest website have links to fanfic sites?

Three reasons why the midseason break of Doctor Who won't bother me that much:

One, Neal Caffrey from tonight thru July.

Two, Jack Carter from July thru September.

Three, the Doctor from September to ?.

See the overlaps there?

And to tie it back around, a rec: I Was Only Borrowing Time (I Was Going To Put It Back) by [personal profile] sam_storyteller, a Doctor Who/White Collar crossover.

I finally got a master list entry made of my fanfiction. It can be found here.

I've gotten to the point where I can only watch so much Classic Who at a time, especially if it's a really long serial. I started watching "The Monster of Peladon", but had to take a break. Maybe I'll finish it tonight.

A Doctor Who(ish) rec. Which is really a Merlin rec, but it's one where Morgana is a Time Lord (which is AWESOME). Therefore: Indistinguishable From Magic by [personal profile] netgirl_y2k.

Speaking of secret Time Lords, I have this idea of someone who is totally one (a secret time lord, that is), but the hard part it making it work. See, the person is from a world of magic, but there really isn't magic in Doctor Who, just science, so I'm trying to figure out how to explain the magic with science. Obviously I don't want to steal [personal profile] netgirl_y2k's ideas of why there's magic in Camelot. You see my problem?

I might just have to sit down and really really think. And do research. Yay, research.

I normally talk about the high school, college or pro levels of football. Today I'm taking another step back, going to middle school.

And yes, this was totally a legal move and the points counted.

Everyone in any sort of fandom should check this out:

Not My Fandom Fest: We all joke about "fannish osmosis," and this comment ficathon is going to put that to the test. The object is to write a ficlet for a fandom you're not a part of based solely on what you've learned from your friends list and fandom at large.

I've contributed a few ficlets. You should too. :D

(My Sherlock one is totally [livejournal.com profile] ariastar's fault.)

Okay, this is quite possibly the cutest and sweetest thing in the world.

Couple base their engagement shoot on the Pixar movie "Up".
