januarThis is really short, and completely without a beta, since I just wrote it in the last half hour. I just had get it out of my head, where it's been sitting and gnawing at my brain since this afternoon. So... la?

On the very second Jethro turned eleven, he clutched his head between both hands and said, "fuck."
Less than five minutes later he was having his mouth washed with soap. That was the problem with suddenly having the memories of a very powerful wizard who didn't have the cleanest mouth thrust into your head.

This wasn't the first time this had happened. When he learned he was essentially immortal, back in the very beginning, he thought he'd live forever and ever, never aging.
That wasn't the case. He aged, and then he died. It was just that he was immediately reborn.
He got tired of repeating high school rather quickly.

He didn't remember everything about all his past lives, thankfully. Otherwise, he was quite certain he would go insane. Names of loved ones, dates of important engagements, those were never there each time he remembered.
However, general knowledge - science, math, history, etc. - continued to accumulate in the back of his mind, the knowledge lingering there subconsciously. There wasn't really anything he didn't know at that point, even if it wasn't always obvious. He could have easily gotten straight A's in secondary school, or been on a trivia game show.
He almost did go on a trivia game show once, in the late twentieth century. Then he decided that might draw too much attention to him.
The only life he completely remembered, names, dates, everything, was his first.

For someone who was supposed to be reborn, his royal highness was sure taking his ever loving time. There were times that he thought, 'this is it. After so many years,' but it was never to be.
That's why when they finally found each other, and the first thing Arthur said was, "Merlin, what is up with the emo ensemble?" Merlin smacked him upside the head. Then called Arthur a prat.
Things quickly went back to normal between the two of them after that.
