"I am the Master." "So what?"
May. 13th, 2011 08:07 amA few years back I bought "The Mighty 200" issue of Doctor Who Magazine. It had all 200 (at the time) Doctor Who stories rated by the readers. Watching Classic Who made me decide to pull it out and see where the stories I've seen were ranked.
"The Keys of Marinus" (First) - 160
"Full Circle" (Fourth) - 101
"State of Decay" (Fourth) - 87
"Warriors' Gate" (Fourth) - 81
"Warriors of the Deep" (Fifth) - 185
And most recently watched, "Planet of Fire" (Fifth) - 134.
Notable things about "Planet of Fire":
- The introduction of Peri, the American with the changing accent. What kind of name is Perpugilliam?
- The revelation of Turlough's true origins. Turlough: polical prisoner.
- Ainley!Master! This is the first Master I've seen other than Jacobi and Simm in New Who. And he's (sort of) wearing a suit!
- I like how the Master's Tardis is black compared to the Doctor's white Tardis.
- Glasses! The Doctor has glasses!
- Tiny Master! And Peri was going to hit him with her shoe. Heeeeeee.
- It's volcano day!
- The Doctor pushing Peri down behind the desk, looking at her, then putting her hand on the switch he wanted her to push just amused me.
- The expression on the Doctor's face after the Master is "evaporated" makes me think of Doctor/Master. Darn you, all you shippers out there!
- Turlough is going to stop running and go home. Good for you, Turlough, even though you are a prison
- The departure of Turlough. Bye, Turlough.
- Welcome aboard, Peri.
Notable quotes:
- "You will obey me." "No." "I am the Master." "So what?"
- "Something's happening inside the volcano." "Well, we must gaze upon it." "Shall we gaze upon it, too?"
- "The worse place in the universe, English public school on Earth."
Now to go watch my first Third Doctor serial. Complete with Classic Silurians!
