Doctor Who has returned! I liked it more than I thought I would back when I learned the title at the mid-season finale.

Just so you know, I was completely unspoiled for this episode. No casting spoilers, no little tidbits, nothing. And I am soooo glad about that. I'm going to try to remain unspoiled for the rest of the season.

First, Amy and Rory. They get lots of capslocks, cause they're that wonderful. THEY USED CROP CIRCLES TO CALL THE DOCTOR. LITTLE RORY, WHO IS SHORTER THAN LITTLE AMELIA. AMY THOUGHT RORY WAS GAY, BECAUSE SHE WAS OBLIVIOUSLY TO THE FACT THAT HE LIKES HER. RORY PUNCHED HITLER AND HELD A GUN ON HIM. POOOOONDS. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Second, the Doctor. I'm not the biggest fan of the coat. No elbow patches! At least I stopped noticing it at some point. But we do see the jacket hanging on the coat rack, so maybe he'll wear it in later episodes. Guilt, guilt and guilt! AKA: Rose, Martha and Donna! The only person the Doctor hasn't screwed up (yet) is little Amelia! Fish fingers and custard, the new phrase of inspiration. Return of the tuxedo, accesorized with sonic cane! He now knows when he's suppose to die. Well, obviously he knew when he set everything up in "Day of the Moon".

Third, but definitely not least, Mels. Melody. River. Whatever. How AWESOME is she?? When the red car pulled up, I thought it would be River who stepped out of it, it seemed so her to make that kind of entrance. I was wrong, or so I thought. First reaction to Mels: What. The. Heck. Rory and Amy apparently have a friend who is always making trouble. As we went through the past and learned about her, I loved her more and more. The interaction of "Hi Mels." "Hi Rory." was like two people tollerating each other because of a common friend. And Amelia/Amy always waiting outside the door for her. She's the reason that Amy and Rory got together! Oh, Ponds, being all oblivious. She shot the TARDIS! Plus I was thinking that Melody must have been named after Mels.

And then... it turns out Mels -is- Melody! That totally explains the stealing things. Just like River. But she's not "River" yet, even though she now has that face. Her reactions to regenerating seem quite familiar. But they're even more amusing with her. Oh, so many firsts and paradoxes. Melody is named after Mels who is actually Melody. Melody gets called River because she will be River, plus the Doctor uses the phrase "spoilers" because she'll use it. First time she calls him Sweetie in that body! First kiss from her point of view! Of course, during all this she's trying to kill the Doctor. Sorry, not today. But despite being shot by her, the TARDIS still teaches Melody how to fly! Because Melody is the Child of the TARDIS! And she chooses to the save the Doctor, using all her remaining regenerations. That helps explain "Forest of the Dead" because if River hadn't used up her regenerations, then doing the thing with the computer wouldn't have killed her, she would have regenerated. Melody receives the blue TARDIS journal! Now she can off to study archeaology to bring her closer to the River we know.

Finally, the random things. Tiny people in a body! I totally thought of the Eddie Murphy movie "Dave" when I saw that. Banana! Okay, I really -really- want River/Jack now. Amy and Rory get shrunk! "The first question. The oldest question in the universe. Hidden in plain sight." Which is... unknown. Of course. Hmmm. I wonder what it is. Obviously the Doctor told River to tell River Song that he loves her.

Next time: "We're dead. Again." Yes, Rory. They like to kill you, you should be used to it by now.

Oh, one final thing. Before it was revealed Mels was River, I was totally thinking of Rory/Amy/Mels/Jeff sedoretu, with Rory and Mels being one Moiety and Amy and Jeff being the other. The earth sedoretu that never happened. And since Mels is River, can't. Dang you, Moff, messing up my sedoretu.

The second half of season six should be interesting.
