holy cow, a Milliways post

januarMilliways is moving to Dreamwidth, with a whole new cast list. I don't think I'll be making the move with them.
The truth is, I can't remember the last time I RPed. It has definitely been quite some time. I have two characters active right now, but when I do RP, I only seem to bring in the one I'm more comfortable with and have RPed with longer.
Where does that leave my characters, including the ones retired?
• Ember, my first RP attempt, was a failure. Years later I can look back and tell I played her OOC, which makes me wince quite a bit. Maybe someone else who wants to play can figure out how to keep her in canon. Ride free, Ember. Live life in the Way.
• When I first started playing Blaise, all we know about his was his name and that he was Slytherin. We didn't even know he was a he. Now that there's more information about him thanks to book 6, there's the opporunity for someone to play him in canon to the books. That someone won't be me. Adieu, Blaise.
• Echo... she's actually a hard one. I wouldn't mind bringing her over and starting afresh. The problem is having to go through the communication barrier again, and I don't think I can do that. So I'm sorry, Echo. I think you'll just have to fade away into nothing but a voice in this universe, unless someone else decides to play you. I loved you, sweetie.
• Iris is one of my two active characters and the one I bring into the bar sometimes. But the question is, would I play her more if I brought her over to DW? Probably not. So I think this is a good time to let her go back to what she is, a myth. Maybe someday I'll decide I really miss her and will see if she's been taken on DW, but I don't see that day coming soon.
• The same with Calcifer. I think the last time I brought him in was at some big Milliways event? That was... yeah, two and a half years ago. So Calcifer, I break the spell that binds us. Go off and be plates of cake for someone else.
Thank you, Milliways, for all the good times. Because of you, I've made several friends that I hope will continue to be my friends even though I'm not RPing anymore. I've learned stuff about myself that I might have never known. I've been places I never would have thought to visit. But most of all, you made me happy, Milliways. I'll never forget you.
